Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo cross stitch pattern

A cross stitch chart of a Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus funereus) sitting on a banksia bush. Inspired by an Elizabeth Gould bird lithograph.
An Australian native parrot, it has a black body and prominent yellow feathers on its tail and cheeks. It is one of five bird species of black cockatoos in Australia.
The IUCN lists its conservation status as of ‘least concern’. But the South Australian list of threatened species lists this ave as ‘vulnerable’.
The use of one and two thread strands for each cross-stitch helps give depth to this striking embroidery design. Recommended for advanced beginners, this chart uses quarter and three-quarter cross stitches.
A fun and challenging cross stitch project, it would make a perfect gift for lovers of birds.
